Yes, yes, yes, I know it’s been months, but I’ve been busy.
First there was a whole raft of children’s books arriving, all of which look fantastic. Second we’re working on The Eynsham Mysteries, a new community theatre project here in the village which premieres in April and features, among other things, the Eynsham Morris as Jesus’s disciples. Thirdly, I’ve been doing a lot of travelling, notably to Israel and Rome. First time in both places which gives one a lot to think — and write — about. The trips were research for a new guide to the Bible which I am working on.
Israel was particularly inspiring — especially Jerusalem, which is unlike any city I have ever been in. Ever. Ever, ever, ever. It’s an amazing place, although I can’t help feeling that it suffers from just a touch too much religion. With all three major faiths fighting it out over every square inch, you don’t so much breathe air as a sort of boiled history. Still I found the whole thing utterly compelling — particularly the antiquity of the sites — and I can’t wait to go back.
Will write more about this when I’ve got the time. Which, at this rate, will be some time around May…
